I absolutely love the Excel Checkbook. I used Quickbooks for my home checking for years but it got far too expensive for that. So I searched far and wide for some app that would fit my needs and have a free or reasonable cost. Of course I found nothing suitable. Then I stumbled upon Excel Checkbook Register. I immediately knew it was perfect!

This Excel Checkbook Register - 2025 is perfect for my needs and what I've been searching for to keep an electronic register. I am so impressed by the ease of use, the tabs, the clear directions, and all the accounting details I need. I previously used Quicken and generally liked it, but I wanted a stand-alone (offline) checkbook type of register for all my accounting and bank accounts. This is it!!
The best part about all this is Logan's excellent customer service when I had questions about how some of the functions worked. I've been trying to find something simple yet powerful enough to run a smaller farming operation and found this very easy to use and even reports on expenses. I tried using QuickBooks but can't really afford that and its way too much for a small operation.

Hey there, We just downloaded your excel sheet. I can't tell you how much I love it. Its amazing. We have a pretty big sized business that we use quickbooks for. And we found this to use for our rental properties! Its amazing and I love it. My question is.... So the tenants pay a security deposit. How would I categorize that in this system? I know its not income... Its not really an expense. Help!
Thank you for the note! I would propose using a separate register worksheet to track those security deposits. And you might consider either not categorizing them at all, or add a new entry in the category list for Security Deposit but don't give it a Category Type.

As a now former Quicken user, who hated the $72/year fee they charge for the privilege of getting an app for mobility, I wish there were 10 stars instead of 5 for this software - it's well deserved. I've been trying out various alternatives and have never found anything sufficient for my needs. Until now! This software is so well thought out. It does everything I need in a register without being bloated. Nice interface, and I am extremely impressed with how much documentation and how-to videos there are behind the software. WAY beyond what you expect for software in this category. The software reflects how important customer satisfaction is. Customer Support is beyond belief. I have only just bought it and already, I'm excited to push DEL on my Quicken software. This gets HUGE thumbs up for flexibility and reliability as well as over the top customer support. You won't be sorry you bought it. I've never written this glowing of a review before (and I've written many) - it's worth every penny.

If I could reach through this internet connection I’d kiss you right on the lips! I have been looking desperately for an easy to use checkbook program for a small group that wouldn’t break the bank AND that a novice Excel user could relate to. I did try to get fancy one time and wiped out part of my page, but with a small nudge from my Excel expert kids, everything is now back to rights.
I absolutely recommend this product, especially for those old folks like me that need an easy to use, but very useful, checking accounting program. 5 Stars!

I am a Rideshare/Gig worker so I can keep track of my work easily and keep track of my checking accounts and other investments. Just wanted to say thank you for your product.
I have successfully, finally, downloaded the 2025 new version. Any problems I had in downloading were of my own doing! This checkbook has been an answer to my prayers! I have not used it for my personal checkbook; however, and planning to do so this year. The new version is for a very small foundation that doesn’t need all the bells and whistles that every other option I checked has. It is just what I need. Thanks for your kind, patient help!

1 question we have is how do you add more items to the sub catagory section? We farm and we would like to add grain feed, storage, and transportation to the list but we can't figure out how to do that. Again this is a great product and definitely worth the money!!!

I think I messed up one of the registers, it isn't working correctly, but I still have the other 5! (I don't have formal training on Excel so I am sure I messed it up.)
I love this register. I am "old school" and kept a register for many years, but I like the convenience of using a laptop or my tablet. The many features are pure genius. I love the ability to put my monthly expenses into a future transaction sheet and just add them all at once.
I actually intended to use it with my iPad, but I can use it easier on my windows laptop.
I would definitely recommend.
The excel-checkbook is a great spreadsheet for handling your checkbook accounts and not like other programs, it is inexpensive!! One charge. No monthly fees!

Thank you so much for your work on this. I can finally dump Quicken. I needed very few of the Quicken options, but the few I needed were hard to find. Plus my bank & Quicken really seem to struggle to communicate properly. Well worth the money.
